Noah made the jr. high basketball team again this year. He was pretty excited about it. They have a new coach this year and the competition was tough. He made it on varsity but we'll see how much he'll get to play. His good friends Zac and Braden didn't make it so he was kinda bummed about that. The season is over and they went to playoffs but lost the first game. Noah was kinda disappointed because the coach told him he would play varsity but he only played in a couple of the varsity games. He mostly just played jv. He really likes the coach but didn't necessarily like his coaching style. The season is so quick. It started in November and was over by Christmas break.

Halloween
Another Halloween has passed. I really thought Noah was done with the whole trick or treating thing. He is 13, almost 14, after all. But he had a couple of friends from school that decided at the last minute to go around to a few houses. He just wore all black and put on a scream mask. I told him he could go as long as he had a costume. He got quite a bit of candy. I just stayed home and passed out candy to the cute neighborhood kids. We also did a couple of fun Halloween things. We decided to paint pumpkins instead of carve them this year. It really didn't make it any less messy but it was fun to try something new. We painted a Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. Mike turned out pretty good but Sully was hard and is barely recognizable. It was fun though. We also went to Hee Haw Farms and did the haunted hayride. We have done it the last couple of years and Noah really likes it .

Zombie 5 K
Noah's school did a fundraiser and it was a 5K run. They called it the Zombie Fun Run because it was near Halloween. You could dress up as a zombie or human. Noah and I both did the race. I mostly walked since I hadn't trained at all. Noah, of course, ran the whole thing. It was fun and it wasn't too cold. We got these cute shirts with our sign up fees. They had lots of people support them so I think it was a great success. Noah has his face painted.

Bike Rides and Hikes
We went on our first bike ride of the summer last Thursday night. We went up a hill and then came down. We biked for about an hour. It was really nice and good exercise. We also went on another hike the other night. It was a pretty hard hike. It was a lot of uphill and climbing rocks. We also had a part that we had to scale over some rocks holding a rope. I wouldn't have made it without the rope. It was a pretty long hike though. At the top was a big beautiful waterfall.

8th Grade
Noah had his first day of 8th grade today. He said it was a pretty good day. He was so excited to wear his new clothes and shoes. I can't believe how fast he is growing up. I know I'm going to blink and he'll be gone. I wish he would just stop growing now. I hope he'll be able to find some new friends this year. A lot of his good friends from last year decided to transfer to Brockbank so Noah was kinda sad about it. Here's to hoping he has a great year.

Summer Hikes
One of my favorite things to do in the Summer is to go hiking. I don't like to go on too steep of trails but I really like to go on ones with a lake or waterfall. We've only gone on 3 or 4 hikes this summer but hopefully we can get a few more in before the weather turns too cold.
This is a hike called Rocky Mouth Falls
Cecret Lake up Little Cottonwood Canyon
This was up Ensign Peak with the cousins

Jimmer Camp
Noah had the chance to go to the Jimmer Camp again this year. Jimmer Fredette and his whole family are involved in the camp. They teach the kids a lot of good schools not just in basketball but skills they can use throughout their lives. They also get a tshirt and a basketball to keep. Noah said he had a good time. The camp was held at the XSI Factory in Lehi. Here are some of the shots I got.

Newman Reunion
This year we had our Newman reunion at Kelly's in Wellsville. Kelly and Cherish are nice enough to open up their home and let all of us stay there. They have a big beautiful home up on the mountain in Wellsville. Everyone seemed to have a great time. We went up on July 4th and celebrated the 4th with a BBQ and watched fireworks. The kids got to go swimming, ride horses, dirt bikes and 4 wheelers. All the grand kids went to the Brigham City temple with my parents and did baptisms. It was a great experience for them. We watched a movie in their theater room, saw Caleb being ordained a teacher and had fun just visiting and being together.
