The Ride With A Witch

I love going to Gardner Village this time of year to see all of the cute witches out on display. I was looking online at Gardner Village and found that they have a scavenger hunt to find the witches and then you bring the completed paper into the bakery and get a free cookie. Anyway, we went and did the scavenger hunt and it was a lot of fun. The weather was perfect and we were able to find all of the witches. A couple of them were kinda tricky to find. After that, we took a hayride to a witches house. At the witches house, she told stories and talked to all of the kids. She had fake cockroaches and spiders everywhere. The witches were so cool and played the part so well.

Scarecrow Festival

Every fall, the Westridge Boys Academy does a Scarecrow Festival complete with bounce houses, games, haunted house, racetrack, boutique and food. It is held at Thanksgiving Point. I took Noah the first time when he was 4 or 5 and we have gone every year since. He likes to go and its a fun time. It kinda gets us in the mood for fall and Halloween. Noah climbed the rockwall, rode on the "Spider Speedway", did the bounce houses and his favorite part was the haunted house. He went through it at least 10 times.

Noah had his face painted with a football and a purple helmet for the Minnesota Vikings

They had a pumpkin painted with BYU so Noah wanted me to get a picture of it

Field Trip

Noah's class had his first field trip this year and it was to the Murray Nature Center. I had never heard of this place before but it was pretty cool. It it right by the Jordan Parkway Trail. I was one of the parent volunteers on the field trip. I usually try to go since I'm one of the few parents that doesn't have little kids at home. Noah still likes me to go too. At the beginning of the field trip, we all met in this class room and they got into groups and they gave them a mouse's skull to dissect. It was pretty disgusting. Noah even brought it home. Then we took a little nature walk on the trail and the teachers pointed out different kinds of birds, trees and leaves, etc that they have been studying about in their class.

The Dreaded Visit To The Dentist

A few months ago when I switched my job status from perdiem to full time, I was able to get health and dental insurance for me and Noah for a really good rate. I haven't had dental insurance in a few years so I would have to pay for everything out of pocket. My old dentist retired and so my sister, Kristi, recommended a good dentist that was really close to home. Thanks Kristi. I scheduled appointments for me and Noah and we went in for the cleaning and checkup. Noah ended up having 2 cavities and I had 3 cavities and needed a root canal. Ewwww!!! If you have ever had a root canal, you totally know what I mean. It was awful and it seemed to take forever. The worst thing is that it usually takes 2-3 visits to completely finish the root canal. I still have one visit left for the root canal and one visit to do the cavities. Noah got his cavities filled a couple of weeks ago. He was so anxious anticipating the shots he would have to have prior to the fillings. He must have asked me a million times exactly what would happen and how bad the shots were going to hurt, etc. He was so relieved after if was over and said it wasn't bad at all. He had the laughing gas and he got to watch Shrek during the whole thing. I guess no one likes going to the dentist but it's unfortunately necessary. He was tough though. Now, if I can just get my visits over with.

Go Cyprus!!!

I still can't believe I'm saying "Go Cyprus!" I'm a "Granger girl" and Cyprus was always one of our biggest rivalries so it's weird to cheer for them. This is Noah's second year playing Cyprus little league football and so I have to cheer for Cyprus right? This year, he really wanted to go to the Cyprus homecoming game. They were actually playing Granger. I took him and he sat with some of his friends from his football team and they had a blast. He was sitting with me at the beginning of the game and one of his football friends came over and said "Noah, are you going to sit with your Mommy or come sit with us?" Needless to say, he went and sat with his buddies. The weather wasn't too bad. They had a fireworks show after the game that the kids loved. Cyprus lost the game but the kids still had a great time hanging out together and watching the older kids play.
